Practice uppercase and lowercase letters
Practice uppercase and lowercase letters as separate entries or side-by-side pairs.
Uppercase and lowercase letters can have very different shapes. Compare A and a, B and b, or R and r before putting both on a worksheet. Give each form enough room at its own height.
Choose a letter pair
Each pair includes the uppercase and lowercase form. Keep both when you copy the examples.
For separate writing rows, enter the capital and lowercase letter on different input lines. To keep a pair together, type A a on one line. The alphabet preset uses paired entries from A a to Z z.
Preserve the spelling of names
Keep as entered preserves the capitals you type, so José stays José. If you choose an uppercase or lowercase conversion, review the proposed text before applying it. Some letters can become more than one character.
Check both parts of a mixed-case line
- Look at capital height and the lowercase body separately.
- Keep dots and accents visible above the main body.
- Leave room below the baseline for g, j, p, q and y.
- Read the whole pair or name after changing letter case.
A short activity
Try one pair first. Give A and a a Look row, a Trace row and a blank Copy row each. Add a short word when you want to use the letter in context.
